Nashville, Memphis, Tennessee Franchise Business Opportunities with Learning Express ? The National Educational Toy Franchise

Nashville, Memphis, Tennessee Franchise Business Opportunities with Learning Express – The National Educational Toy Franchise

Ayer, MA (PRWEB) July 05, 2011

Despite the economic climate, demographic studies conducted for specific locations throughout Tennessee indicate a strong success potential for new Learning Express franchises. According to these studies, franchise business opportunities exist throughout the Nashville and Memphis regions. Learning Express plans to open 15-20 new toy store franchises in 2011.

Ask any evolutionary biologist—in a volatile environment with limited resources, specialization is the key to survival. In 2010, a franchise of specialty toy stores proved the theory. Learning Express, the nation’s leading educational toy retailer, opened fourteen new locations and six temporary “pop-up” stores for the holiday season. The company also reported that sales were up from the previous year. According to CEO Sharon DiMinico, it’s all thanks to specialization and adaptation.

“The kind of homogenous approach you find in many franchises is not the answer when people are investing in their future,” says DiMinico. “Learning Express is built for the independent entrepreneur. Our franchisees benefit from nearly thirty years of experience and we have a significant support system in place, but there’s a lot of freedom. We want our stores to be unique and special in their local community. The cookie-cutter approach doesn’t work with our concept; our owners need to be responsive to their regional markets.”

While Learning Express has historically relied primarily on this type of grassroots marketing, in May of 2011 the company partnered with Educational Insights, a manufacturer of high quality educational toys and the sponsor of the first-ever Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament. Learning Express was named as the retail destination for Educational Insights products advertised during the Jeopardy! tournament, generating unprecedented brand exposure for the franchise.

About Learning Express

Learning Express is the nation’s leading franchisor of educational toy stores with more than 150 locations across the country. Each store is proud to be counted amongst the family of homegrown local businesses in its community. Learning Express storeowners go to work each day to provide their neighbors with a warm, friendly environment in which to shop, meet, and learn. The Learning Express product mix is the crème de la crème of the industry, carefully evaluated for safety, child-tested for fun, and guaranteed to help parents raise smart, healthy kids. Parent of child with disability launches special education consulting company

Parent of child with disability launches special education consulting company

Logo of The Harris Education Group, LLC

Glen Allen, Virginia (PRWEB) May 09, 2011

Johnny Harris, an educator and the parent of a child with a developmental disability, launched a special education consulting company this spring. Harris, a former administrator, recognized a need to serve families of children with disabilities after working in the field for over 10 years.

Harris, President of The Harris Education Group, LLC, provides individual consulting, IEP development, educational assessments and more. All staff members hold post graduate professional teacher licenses, issued by the Virginia Department of Education as well as Master and Doctorate Degrees in Special Education and Psychology.

“Many families of children with disabilities are unaware of their basic rights. Often times they sign IEP’s without fully understanding it, which at times can result in some pretty significant negative consequences. The Harris Education Group, LLC is here to assist parents in eliminating these consequences.”

The aim of The Harris Education Group, LLC, is to ensure parents of children with disabilities are educated about the special education system and become strong advocates for their children. When asked how long he has provided these types of educational services to families; “As long as I have been an educator, I have always helped families understand the special education process and teach them to collaborate with their child’s school in hopes for a positive experience.”

The Harris Education Group, LLC officially formed out of an increased need over past few years. Their office is located in Henrico County’s West End.

A Special Concert To Benefit Specialized Education and Special Children

Paoli, PA (Vocus/PRWEB) April 19, 2011

“A Special Concert for Special Children” invites music enthusiasts and the community to a delightful evening of great classics with wonderfully entertaining “pops” music. Hosted by Valley Forge Educational Services (VFES), the concert will be conducted by Philadelphia’s own Rosalind Erwin and feature the artistry of soloists Rich Ridenour on piano and Brandon Ridenour on trumpet, as well as a 42 piece orchestra comprised of renowned musicians. The concert will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 7:30pm at Immaculata University’s Alumnae Hall. The program, arranged in part by C&KArtists, includes audience participation and a special musical appearance by a student from VFES’ Vanguard School who will join in a performance with Rich Ridenour.

The concert is being held in conjunction with Immaculata University’s annual art show, “Celebrating 28 Years of Original Art,” enabling concertgoers to view and purchase work by distinguished artists on the same evening.

Concert Planning Committee Co-Chair, Alan Reed of Villanova added, “On a personal note, Louise and I are supporting this event because we are grateful for the care VFES’ Vanguard School provided our son, Edward, who spent eight of the most important years of his life there. Academy of READING Earns Endorsement of Council of Administrators of Special Education

Academy of READING Earns Endorsement of Council of Administrators of Special Education

National Herbor, MD (PRWEB) April 25, 2011

Today at the Council for Exceptional Children Conference, School Specialty Literacy and Intervention announced that its Academy of READING® is now endorsed by the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE). This prestigious recognition signifies that the literacy intervention program meets or exceeds all of CASE’s criteria for a reading intervention software tool for struggling readers that is designed to complement existing reading curriculum.

The Academy of READING software program assists educators in developing intervention strategies that enable struggling students – particularly special populations such as special-education students and English Language Learners (ELL) – to build fluency in the foundation skills of reading. The software features a mastery learning approach that incorporates automaticity, independent reading, Spanish language support, and motivational elements. The company earned endorsement for the Academy of READING from CASE after participating in a rigorous evaluation that included review by teachers and students, as well as an in-depth examination of its research base.

“Building a firm foundation in literacy skills is critical for student success in school, college and life,” said Dr. Luann L. Purcell, Executive Director, CASE. “To ensure special-education students have the opportunity to develop these skills, it is important they have access to personalized, research-based learning tools that will help accelerate their learning. The Academy of READING exemplifies the type of program that ensures all students, particularly those with special needs, receive high-quality intervention and build 21st century literacy skills. CASE is proud to endorse the Academy of READING.”

Among the educators who provided support for the Academy of READING’s application for CASE endorsement is Sonja Kubinec, reading specialist at Neil Armstrong Middle School in Bethel Park, Pa. Students at her school have been learning with the Academy of READING since the 2007-2008 school year, and the district has seen gains of up to three grade levels when students use the system for just one school year.

“After an extremely successful implementation, I can professionally confirm that the Academy of READING builds and strengthens the foundation of reading within my students. It has contributed to making a difference in each and every student’s life and gives them the confidence to succeed,” said Kubinec.

“It is an honor to have the Academy of READING endorsed by CASE, a national leader in ensuring that students of all abilities receive an equitable, quality education,” said George Kane, Vice President of Products and Innovation for School Specialty. “We have been developing products for the special-education community for more than 50 years, and with the Academy of READING and our other technology-based products, we have extended that commitment to developing high-quality ed-tech tools for this important community.”
