Akron General Chooses hfa

Akron General Chooses hfa

Akron, Ohio (PRWEB) June 8, 2009

Akron General Health System has named Hitchcock Fleming & Associates Inc. (hfa), an Akron, Ohio-based marketing communications firm, as its new agency of record. With the goal of engaging the community in Akron General’s brand while promoting choice in healthcare, the two collaborated to develop a new marketing campaign, which carries the tag line “The Choice You Can Believe In.”

“Akron General has a long history of providing outstanding clinical and compassionate care,” said Michael Rindler, senior advisor and interim CEO. “This campaign is designed to remind residents of Akron and surrounding communities that they have the best choice for medical care right here.”

The campaign will cut through the average advertising clutter by focusing on dramatic photography and the belief systems of key Akron General employees, physicians and volunteers. View creative at http://www.teamhfa.com/PR/Akron_General_Creative/.

The multi-tier campaign will include print, radio, outdoor, web and community sponsorships, which will ensure that all key audiences – including the community at large, healthcare providers, employees and community and business leaders – are reached.

A Healthy New Relationship

With the belief that local agencies have the most passion for and knowledge of the community, Akron General limited its agency search primarily to local marketing firms.

“This area is home to some highly accomplished marketing firms that produce compelling creative work,” Rindler said. “We knew we could find the solid campaign research and inspiring creative elements we were looking for here in Akron.”

hfa is a full-service marketing communications firm that has the capability to provide account planning, creative, interactive and public relations services.

“We chose hfa for myriad reasons, including its understanding of our markets, relationships with the media, commitment to the community, top-of-the-line research capabilities and breadth of thinking in regards to strategy and creative messaging,” Rindler said. “hfa provided research that demonstrated great knowledge of our target audiences, and therefore the agency was able to hit the ground running.”

In 2007, hfa was awarded a Medical Mutual Pillar Award for its outstanding service to the Northeast Ohio community.

Akron General has for 12 consecutive years been named Akron’s Most Preferred Hospital for overall quality and image by the National Research Corporation. It’s the only medical center in northeast Ohio designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center. Akron General’s McDowell Cancer Center is Akron’s only hospital to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.

As one of the largest employers in a three-county area, Akron General is also a Northcoast 99 Employer of Choice. This means that Akron General was named one of northeast Ohio’s top 99 employers based on meeting employee needs through benefits, health and safety, training and education, diversity and employee communication.

“At hfa, we are enthusiastic to work with one of the area’s premier healthcare systems,” said Jack DeLeo, president / CEO of hfa. “Akron General is leading the way in medical research and care, and we’ll work with them every step of the way to provide outstanding marketing support.”

Investing in Girls? and Women?s Education Advances Global Development Goals

Investing in Girls’ and Women’s Education Advances Global Development Goals

(PRWEB) May 26, 2011

United Nations Foundation CEO Kathy Calvin released the following statement praising the announcement made today by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) of the Global Partnership for Girls’ and Women’s Education, in which UNESCO will work with partners including the U.S. State Department, to boost secondary education rates and adult literacy.

“A strong educational foundation is essential to the success of girls, and their communities, around the world. Investing in an educated, healthy, skilled, and empowered girl today means she will have the tools to reinvest back into her family, her community, and our world tomorrow. UNESCO’s new partnership, ‘Better Lives, Better Future,’ will help stem dropout rates of adolescent girls as they transition from primary to secondary education and in lower secondary schools. Its focus on scaling up women’s literacy programs through stronger advocacy and partnerships is a smart solution to a problem that affects not just young girls, but the communities and families they will build in the future.

“UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s participation in today’s launch framed the UNESCO initiative in the context of the Secretary-General’s Global Strategy for Women’s and Girl’s Health and the global push to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Educating women and girls serves as a multiplier for other development goals. Yet lack of education for girls leads to a disproportionate number of adult women without literacy skills; two-thirds of the world’s 796 million illiterate adults are women. To tackle these challenges, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the U.S. will join with UNESCO on a new study of adult literacy and secondary education, the results of which will help policy makers effectively target education investments.

“When we educate a young girl, we are shaping our world for a better tomorrow. As part of the largest youth generation in history, adolescent girls need an education if they are going to help their communities move from poverty into prosperity. Providing girls additional schooling puts them on track for future success. Girls who are attending school are less likely to be married early and tend to have a lower risk of HIV/AIDS. Girls who have an extra year of education beyond average boost their eventual wages by 10-20 percent. Girls with more schooling participate in greater numbers in the labor force when they grow up, and they are able to earn more for their families and society.

“We applaud UNESCO and its partners for shining a spotlight on this under-served – but highly influential – period of educational development in an adolescent girl’s life. We commend UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Ambassador David T. Killion, U.S. Permanent Representative to UNESCO, for their vision and leadership on this issue. This partnership is helping build a brighter future for us all.”
