Regent Provides Online Early Needs Analysis and Digitized Student Aid Application

Frederick, MD (Vocus) November 8, 2007

Today, Regent, the leading provider of financial aid management software solutions for the education industry, announced the first-ever early needs analysis program and digital Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as a fully integrated part of the Regent Student Self Service Portal. These enhancements will be offered at no additional charge and as part of the Regent Enterprise solution. This new functionality will allow prospective and current students to receive an early estimate of financial aid eligibility without a fee or third party service provider.

Previously, students had to either complete an application from a third party provider or wait until January 1 to complete the FAFSA electronically through the Federal Department of Education. Regent’s new early needs analysis feature allows prospective students and their families to fill out the FASFA form to obtain an early estimate of their financial aid award directly from the institution, without paying a fee or submitting an application through a third party agency. The results go directly into the Regent Financial Aid Management (FAM) Solution, giving the school the ability to immediately package an early award offer for the student based on the preliminary needs analysis information. In January, the institution can confirm the information is correct, obtain the appropriate family signatures and submit the application directly to the Department of Education for formal processing.

“The updates we have made to our Student Self-Service Portal will allow financial aid administrators to respond faster to students’ needs and dramatically reduce the stress for the student associated with applying for aid,” said Leonard Gude, Regent’s Vice President of Financial Aid Solutions. “The institution can now increase effectiveness of lead conversion and optimize enrollments around early admissions instead of waiting until February. They can also begin offering award letters earlier, making them more competitive and extremely responsive to students’ needs”

Regent’s newly enhanced Student Self Service Portal also provides E-forms and E-signatures, which reduce the need for institutions to mail forms to students, or for students to have to go to financial aid offices to pick up or turn in completed forms.

The complete, real-time, online process includes benefits such as:

Faster completion and submission of forms by students
Reduced printing and mailing costs for students and the institution
Significantly reduced scanning and data entry
Elimination of lost and/or misplaced documents

With multiple forms to fill out, review, and sign, financial aid can be one of the most difficult processes for students and their families to understand. To ease stress and allow students to communicate directly with the financial aid office, Regent has incorporated advanced instant messaging feature via Live Chat, into the Student Self Service Portal.

Live Chat benefits include:

Instant, real-time communication between students and financial aid staff
Preferred communication for today’s tech savvy students
Improved efficiency of financial aid resources
Improved relationships between students, families and the financial aid office

Regent FAM Student Self-Service Portal lets students manage their financial aid and communicate with the financial aid office while on the go, 24/7, from their laptop, PDA or cell phone. The real-time information is automatically updated in an institution’s financial aid files along with change tracking capabilities. To brand the award offer letter for the institution, Regent’s comprehensive system generates personalized award status letters for students that are imprinted with the school’s logo and colors. Additionally, Regent’s multilingual design supports the needs of an increasingly international population, enabling students to work in their language of choice.

The Regent Enterprise Student Self Service Portal key benefits include:

Early needs assessment and aid offer
Student entered information is populated in real-time
    Viewing, accepting/rejecting awards in real-time
Viewing of application status and academic progress status
    Viewing of messages to student

All Financial Aid Information Is Not Created Equal — Warning to Students and Parents from the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators

All Financial Aid Information Is Not Created Equal — Warning to Students and Parents from the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators

Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 2, 2007

The quality of financial aid Web sites varies greatly and students and their families should be cautious about where they obtain their financial aid information, according to the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). The best source of information is still the financial aid office on campus.

Many Web sites are designed to be informative but are maintained by individuals with limited understanding and expertise in student aid. Even sites developed with the best of intentions sometimes leave out important details that can make a big difference to students. Also, when researching financial aid on the Web, student and parents should consider the following:

Do not mistake an opinion on a Web site or blog as fact;

Be cautious of scholarship sites that require up front fees for searches or matches;

Be wary of emails expressing congratulations for winning an unknown scholarship that will not be disbursed until a fee is paid;

Be aware that some sites dispense information without being upfront about how the site is funded, often presenting skewed information.

The financial aid process can be complicated and daunting even without having to discern between correct information and false and/or misleading information. Although these are not the only sources of accurate student aid information on the Internet, NASFAA suggests the following Web sites as starting points:

The US Department of Education’s “Student Aid on the Web” (http://studentaid.ed.gov)

Sites maintained and operated by an official state agency

Web sites of colleges, universities, or other postsecondary institutions

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrator’s Web site for parents and students, http://www.StudentAid.org

Of course, the best source of information is still the financial aid office on campus.

“Financial aid administrators on campus are most familiar with federal, state, local and institutional aid and have the ability to accurately determine the needs of each student based on his or her unique circumstance,” said Dallas Martin, president of NASFAA.

Financial aid administrators spend countless hours in training, learning the ins and outs of state, federal and institutional financial aid programs. Financial aid administrators are also bound by laws and regulations that give them a clear understanding of what can be done to help every student who needs financial assistance.

“No one has a more vested interest in seeing a student succeed than the school itself,” said Martin. “Students and families should know that they can trust the financial aid office to give them the most comprehensive and up-to-date financial aid information to help them reach their postsecondary goals.”

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) is a nonprofit membership organization that represents more than 12,000 financial aid professionals at nearly 3,000 colleges, universities and career schools across the country. Based in Washington, D.C., NASFAA is the only national association with a primary focus on student aid legislation, regulatory analysis, and training for financial aid administrators. Each year, members help more than 8 million students receive funding for postsecondary education. In addition to its member Web site at http://www.NASFAA.org, the Association offers a Web site with financial aid information for parents and students at http://www.StudentAid.org.

College Admission and Financial Aid Just Got Simple

College Admission and Financial Aid Just Got Simple

Portland, ME (PRWEB) November 16, 2005

College advisors Anne St.Pierre and Danielle Printz published “The Simple Guide to College Admission & Financial Aid” with one goal in mind: to give high school students and their parents an easy to use resource to steer them through the complicated college admission and financial aid process.

“I’ve been surprised to find again and again that the biggest stumbling block for students going to college is not necessarily the rising cost of tuition, but a fear of how to navigate the complicated college admission and financial aid processes,” said St.Pierre, who has been advising students since 1993. “Many students are tempted to quit before they even get started.”

St. Pierre and Printz know first hand how intimidating the process can be; both were the first in their family to go to college.

“That experience is what inspired me to become a college advisor,” continued St. Pierre. “And this

book is the culmination of over a decade of experience helping high school students achieve their higher education goals.”

According to a special study released earlier this year by the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance, millions of students and adult learners who aspire to college are overwhelmed by the complexity of the student financial aid process.

What sets this book apart is that it provides much more information than other resource guides – especially when it comes to financial aid information. “Resources from college selection to completing financial aid forms, to what to expect as a college student make this guide a must in everyone’s backpack, noted Marcia Weston, Director of College Goal Sunday Operations with the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, in Washington, DC. “It’s an excellent resource.”

“The Simple Guide to College Admission & Financial Aid” contains a lot of information most families are unaware of, such as: how to save money on costly college application fees, successfully complete financial aid forms including the FAFSA, maximize college financial aid awards, and find the right scholarships.

Bellarmine University Selects Regent Enterprise

Bellarmine University Selects Regent Enterprise

Frederick, MD (Vocus) June 17, 2008

Regent Education, the leading provider of financial aid management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for higher education institutions, today announced that Bellarmine University has selected Regent Enterprise as its financial aid management solution to be integrated with its existing SIS, Jenzabar CX.

Prior to selecting Regent Enterprise, Bellarmine’s financial aid office processed aid manually, creating a major burden for the financial aid staff. When beginning its search for a financial aid solution, one of Bellarmine’s top criteria was easy integration with their SIS, Jenzabar CX.

“Regent offered us a financial aid solution that could integrate seamlessly with any SIS, including Jenzabar,” said Sean Ryan, Bellarmine’s VP of Enrollment. “Ultimately, we selected Regent over the other solutions because it offered features such as the executive dashboard and built-in imaging that we were previously lacking and needed in a comprehensive system.”

Bellarmine University is a private university in Louisville, Ky., with an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students. U.S. News and World Report ranks Bellarmine as one of the top universities in the South. Bellarmine offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in arts and sciences, nursing, education and business, as well as a doctor of physical therapy degree.

“Regent Enterprise will provide Bellarmine’s financial aid office with a solution that will meet and exceed its needs with ease-of-use and automated processing, allowing the staff to focus more time and attention on the needs of the students,” said Michael Ratti, Regent’s CEO. “Our partnership with Bellarmine further reinforces the flexibility and adaptability of our SaaS solution to work with any SIS.”

Regent Releases Regent Enterprise Multi-Enrollment Version

Regent Releases Regent Enterprise Multi-Enrollment Version

Frederick, Maryland (Vocus) June 11, 2009

Regent Education, the leading provider of financial aid management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for higher education institutions, today announced that its Regent Enterprise (RE) Financial Aid Management Solution now provides institutions with a single platform for processing all financial aid to support both multiple enrollment and payment periods.

“As a career college with 6 campuses and 3 individual PELL IDs, we have always struggled to find a financial aid solution that would allow us to effectively manage our nontraditional calendar,” said Miria Batig, Corporate Director of Financial Aid for The Ohio and Illinois Centers for Broadcasting. “Regent Enterprises’ multi-enrollment capabilities provide cohesiveness and clarity over our entire enterprise, allowing us to provide our term and non-term students with a solution that will eliminate the headaches and confusion of multi-enrollment financial aid packages.”

Today, over 70% of undergraduate students take classes online, and with the growth in demand for online courses, every institution will now have the administrative capability to open and manage an online division and the ability to support unlimited starts and enrollments. Additionally RE provides support for cross registration. RE will evaluate and automatically apply the best financial aid package when federal rules allow flexibility over which year’s estimated family contribution can be used.

“Over the past several years the proliferation of online delivery and other nontraditional initiatives has reinvented higher education,” said Michael Ratti, Regent’s CEO. “The innovation gap for admitting students has been a material barrier for institution’s ability to deliver and manage nontraditional programs where every student enrollment represents a unique enrollment period. With Regent Enterprise, institutions now have the administrative backbone to support the delivery of any and all types of programs.”

Key benefits include:

Program specific definition – Ability to define program costs, length and academic requirements and associate it with a cohort of students based on their start date.
Multiyear packaging -Ability to view projected aid for an entire program of study.
Multi-enrollment processing in a single product – Whether students are non-term or a combination of term and non-term, financial aid can be processed on one platform.
Automatic term dates with crossover support – Completely automated progress monitoring and projections for term adjustments, including crossover support.
Guided R2T4 and automated re-entry – R2T4 “wizard” guides staff through the refund process, virtually eliminating compliance risk.

Public Memorial Caps The End of XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006)

Public Memorial Caps The End of XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006)

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) July 27, 2006

The International AIDS Vigil, a public memorial to those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, will take place Thursday, August 17, 9 PM, rain or shine, at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, Canada. The event, a project of the 519 Church Street Community Centre, brings to an end the week-long activities of the XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006).

“We believe this is a unique opportunity for the local community to join together with conference delegates for a moment of remembrance and reflection,” says Jocelyn Watchorn, Co-Chair of The International AIDS Vigil Committee.

The AIDS International Vigil will begin at dusk with a symbolic candle lighting ceremony and end with the illumination of thousands of glow sticks. The event is expected to attract many of the political, scientific and community leaders working on the front lines of the pandemic as well as a wide representation of people from affected communities. Along with music and readings, the hour-long memorial features the “naming of names”, a poignant moment where the names of the deceased are called aloud from the stage, and from the audience.

The format of the AIDS International Vigil follows a tradition established by the Toronto AIDS Candlelight Vigil, one of the longest running AIDS vigils in the world and a highlight of local Pride Week festivities. Established in 1985 as a humble gathering of friends and family members behind the 519 Church Street Community Centre, the Toronto AIDS Candlelight Vigil has developed into an annual event, which takes place in Cawthra Square Park, in the heart of Toronto’s gay village. The park is home to a permanent AIDS Memorial. Over 2,500 names are etched into the pillars of the memorial, including the name of the man who was the driving force behind the project – Michael Lynch.

The International AIDS Vigil acknowledges the profound devastation HIV/AIDS has wrought within the gay and lesbian community and salutes the leadership role played by that community in the fight to overcome this deadly disease. At the same time, it recognizes the impact of HIV/AIDS on people all over the world. To that end, organizers of the

vigil welcome anyone who may have experienced a personal loss or losses due to HIV/AIDS.

The International AIDS Vigil will be sign language interpreted and wheelchair accessible. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds go to the Ontario AIDS Network Positive Action Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to people with HIV/AIDS.

For more information, call the International AIDS Vigil info line at 416-392-6878, ext. 312 or visit the 519 Church Street Community Centre Web site at http://www.the519.org.

The International AIDS Conference takes place in Toronto, Canada from August 13 to August 18, 2006. It is expected to attract 20,000 expert participants from around the world.
