Sherman, TX (PRWEB) May 24, 2007

Adult incontinence is a condition that affects over 18 million Americans.

“Our goal is to educate the growing senior population on not only the condition of adult incontinence, but also some practical, everyday solutions available to meet some of the issues that a person with adult incontinence faces”, says Will Cates CEO of Lynncore Medgroup, Inc. Mr. Cates goes on to explain that Lynncore believes that by conducting classes in various cities across the country and via the internet, they will be able to educate people with adult incontinence about the symptoms, causes and treatment of bladder control and adult incontinence issues. This will aid people in taking an active part in decisions regarding their healthcare.

Tony Woodall, Sr. V.P. of Lynncore Medgroup, Inc, states that they have found the public has very little information available to them about adult incontinence and the great advancements that have been made in the past few years regarding the treatment and management of the condition. He states “People really know very little about what is available to them. Many people are familiar with name brand adult incontinence products like DEPEND® Adult Diapers, but those are really only a few product solutions people have available to them to aid with the issues they are facing”.

Mr. Woodall goes on to state “Incontinence products have come a long way in the past few years. Companies have developed products like Depends adult diapers, that are comfortable, effective and can’t be seen under normal clothing.”

Top healthcare professionals from the medical community will be speaking at these presentations on all aspects of the condition, including the treatment advancements that have been made in the past five years and the practical day to day solutions. The classes will focus on all aspects of adult incontinence. Literature will be provided and samples of DEPEND® Adult Diapers, pull ups, pads and skin creams will be available. Classes are offered free to the public.

University Hosts Information Meetings for its Adult Degree, Elementary Education Programs in Boise

Boise, Idaho (Vocus/PRWEB) January 28, 2011

Adult learners interested in finishing their bachelor’s degree in a supportive cohort-based format are invited to learn more about George Fox University’s adult degree programs in Boise at an upcoming information meeting.

An adult degree program meeting at the university’s Boise Center in Meridian is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at the center’s location at 1810 S. Eagle Road. Also in February, an information session about one of those adult degree offerings, the elementary education degree program, is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the same location. Subsequent elementary education meetings are scheduled at the same time and place on March 9, April 13 and May 11.

The university’s adult degree programs in Boise include bachelor’s degrees in social and behavioral studies, project management, management and organizational leadership and elementary education.

George Fox’s degree-completion programs are designed for adult students who wish to finish their bachelor’s degree in an accelerated format. Most students who enroll complete their degree in as few as 16 months. The adult degree programs will begin new cohorts in the fall, with an admissions deadline of Aug. 1.

The center offers general education/elective credit courses starting every eight weeks for students who need them prior to entering a cohort. Students can contact Lindsey Wallgren, admissions counselor, at 208-639-8518 to determine if they will need any of these classes.

Applications for admission to the elementary education degree program are now being accepted. The 41-credit-hour major offers course work that offers initial certification with authorization to teach in Idaho public and private schools at the elementary education level.

Both the adult degree programs and elementary education program are designed to accommodate the schedules of working adults, with classes scheduled one night per week and, in the case of elementary education, one Saturday per month. Many classes are offered in a hybrid format, combining online and in-class formats.

For details on the programs – including cost, scheduling, and how many credits are required for admission and for graduation – visit the university’s adult degree programs website at georgefox.edu/adult-degree.

George Fox University is ranked by Forbes as the top Christian college in the Pacific Northwest and among the top three Christian colleges in the country. George Fox is the only Christian university in the Pacific Northwest classified by U.S. News & World Report as a first tier national university. More than 3,400 students attend classes on the university’s campus in Newberg, Ore., and at teaching centers in Portland, Salem, and Redmond, Ore., and Boise, Idaho. DriversEd.com Launches Texas Adult Drivers Education to Accommodate Students Affected by New State Regulations

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) February 14, 2011

DriversEd.com has received approval from the Texas Education Agency to provide a drivers education course exclusively for adults. The course, mandatory in Texas for individuals over 18 and under 25 years old, is designed for adults who want to earn a first drivers license. This course eliminates the Texas DPS written exam requirement, saving students time and money. The Online Driver Education Course Exclusively for Adults involves six hours of online instruction and offers the latest information in safety techniques and defensive driving to a new, adult demographic. DriversEd.com is no stranger to Texas students, having offered the DPS-approved course #108, Parent-Taught Drivers Education for Teens (18 and under) since 2005.

March 2010 marked new regulations enacted by Texas Senate Bill 1317, requiring adults between 18 and 25 to complete adult drivers education before receiving a first drivers license. DriversEd.com, one of only three online providers approved by the TEA, uses highly regarded and effective distance learning methods to engage a variety of learners with multimedia content, 3-D case studies, and interactive learning tools. The course covers the fundamentals of drivers education with adults students in mind: alcohol and drug awareness, distracted driving, state traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and sharing the road.

“We’ve worked very closely with the TEA to meet the needs of adult drivers. We’re very eager to add this course to our driver’s education offering and provide adult drivers in Texas with the information and skills that every driver should have prior to getting behind the wheel,” says Gary Golduber, President and CTO of DriversEd.com. DriversEd.com provides a range of courses that include DMV-licensed and state-approved online drivers ed courses for first time, adult and mature drivers. Like all the courses in DriversEd.com’s fleet, the Texas Online Driver Education Course Exclusively for Adults is entirely self-paced and currently offered with a substantial early release discount.

About DriversEd.com: DriversEd.com is the industry leader in drivers education. Founded in 1997, DriversEd.com pioneered the online drivers education space and today is the largest and most visited drivers education site on the Web. Sober College Building ‘Online Community’

Sober College Building ‘Online Community’

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) April 13, 2006

Learning House, Inc. recently was commissioned to revolutionize the learning system at Sober College (http://www.sobercollege.com). The institution is partnering with Learning House to launch online courses in general studies.

Sober College was founded to provide a comfortable environment for young adults struggling to cope with the effects of drug and alcohol use and abuse. From their residential options to their teaching methods, Sober College stresses its role as a safe haven and alternative to traditional college settings. Administrators at the college hope to extend the reach of their mission further through distance education.

“Young adult treatment services is a need that is not being answered,” explained Kim Farber, Director of Communications at Sober College. “The young adult addict is a different kind of student, and it’s going to take a different kind of education to get them to learn. Sober College’s expertise is in treating young adult drug and alcohol addiction, and we do this through the belief in long-term treatment and the value of education to those in recovery.”

“We at Sober College believe in the power of the Internet and distance education to build a community of people with access to education,” she said. “We are currently devising a curriculum that incorporates our principles of sobriety that can be translated into online classes.”

The classes they are planning to offer will be in general studies, intended to cover the first two years of college. Students can work towards their AA degree, “for the purpose of creating a track record for success,” Farber said.

Sober College conducted an “exhaustive search” to find a partner for the development of its online program. “We needed someone with the experience of building an online university to mesh with our expertise on young adult addiction and education,” Farber said. “We believed that Learning House would bring something to the table.”

About Sober College

Sober College Academy is a residential program for young adults age 17 1/2 to 29 with chemical dependency and related issues. The curriculum builds competencies in Sobriety, Life Skills, Physical Fitness, Academics and Job Readiness. The Concept of Sober College is born out of an understanding of young adults struggling to recover from drug and alcohol use and addiction. The development of the concept is based on three core ideas. (1) Treatment and recovery for young adults is more effective when they are surrounded by others their same age. (2) Given the right environment, young adults will respond positively. (3) The longer a young adult can be in a treatment environment, the better the chances for lasting success.

Leave No Adult Behind Program Could Help 30 Million Adults Earn High School Diplomas

Leave No Adult Behind Program Could Help 30 Million Adults Earn High School Diplomas

Brattleboro, Vermont (PRWEB) March 27, 2006

Liberty High School has added a new online high school completion program, Liberty Online (http://www.libertyonline.us) as part of their Leave No Adult Behind program. Recognized and approved by the Vermont Board of Education, the online high school has all the subjects a student who left prior to graduation might need to earn a diploma.

“We’ve tried to make it as much like a real high school as we can. Even though it’s online, the students and teachers, who are all experienced high school teachers, interact as often as they need so students can succeed. The biggest difference is that it is geared for adults.” said Paul Zazzaro, Liberty High School Director. He added “Many of these students are now adults with families, jobs, other responsibilities. They understand what it meant to quit before graduation. We wanted to give them the chance to get back into the educational system. Getting a high school degree online is often the only way they can get a diploma.”

The Department of Education, the American Council on Education, and others estimate there are at least 1.3 million new dropouts every year. High school graduation peaked in 1969 at 77 percent, and has been dropping for past 37 years. In a recent study, conducted by Peter Hart Research Associates and commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, sixty percent of high school dropouts did not leave because they were failing. Almost all of them said they would return if they had the chance, according to John Bridgeland, one the report’s authors and a former Bush administration domestic policy adviser.

According to David Grebow, CEO of KnowledgeStar, Inc. and one of the Liberty Online co-founders, “Liberty High School’s Leave No Adult Behind program tries to do for adults what the No Child Left Behind Act does for children. We wanted to make people aware that it’s not just children who are being left behind by the educational system.” Mr. Grebow added,” The US is now in 10th place in the world when it comes to high school completion rates. We cannot afford to simply forget about 30 million adults who don’t have a high school diploma. The Leave No Adult Behind program will require the same kind of resolve at the national level that the NCLB Act demonstrated.”

The Benedictine School Celebrates 50 Years of Dedicated and Holistic Educational Service for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

The Benedictine School Celebrates 50 Years of Dedicated and Holistic Educational Service for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

The Benedictine School Celebrating 50 Years

Ridgely, Md. (PRWEB) October 27, 2009

The Benedictine School, a nationally recognized, accredited and cost-effective educational living and learning environment for children and adults, is celebrating its 50th anniversary of helping students with developmental disabilities reach their full potential. As part of its mission to provide a holistic, loving life-cycle approach for its students, Benedictine also announced its vision of providing a senior care center for its aging special needs residents.

The Benedictine School, which currently offers educational, vocational and professional programs for students and adults with developmental disabilities, views a future senior care center as a place for special needs adults in their retirement and elderly years. The senior care center would complete Benedictine’s goal of full life-cycle support for special needs individuals. Today, the residential and day school services students ages 5 to 21 and the Open Community Program provides a group home program for adults ages 22 to 60+ to live with peers in one of 27 state-licensed homes in Maryland or Delaware. The Benedictine School and Open Community Program currently enrolls 180 children and adults.

“It has been my lifetime dream to provide a complete and total program for individuals with developmental disabilities,” said Sister Jeannette Murray, executive director for the past 47 years and a founding sister of The Benedictine School. “Currently, parents and family members are greatly challenged in finding 24/7 care for aging loved-ones with special needs as their bodies and minds age faster. The future senior care center is a natural extension for us as our students will receive the same love and therapy they have known throughout their stay at Benedictine.”

Established in 1959 with 19 students, the Sisters of St. Benedict recognized the need for a school to educate children and young adults with developmental disabilities. Since then, the Benedictine School has provided comprehensive services for 1,000 individuals including those with families and those with no meaningful family support.

Located on 500 acres of farmland in Ridgely, Maryland, the Benedictine School’s classrooms, living quarters and staff-including special education teachers, therapists and medical personnel-offer students and adults a loving, home-like atmosphere. Vocational and social activities are important at the Benedictine School, as students learn beyond the classroom, prepare for adulthood and discover ways to effectively manage their leisure time.

About the Benedictine School

Located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the Benedictine School is a nationally recognized, accredited and cost-effective educational living and learning environment for children and adults with special needs. Established in 1959 and managed by the Sisters of St. Benedict, the Benedictine School is a fully approved, non-sectarian center caring for 180 children and adults ages 5 through 60 and over. The Benedictine School Foundation secures the financial resources needed to ensure the future of Benedictine’s programs, services and other activities.
